Marriage: A Blogger's Story

Marriage:
Wikipedia states -A socially or ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them, between them and their children, and between them and their in-laws.

What does it take?
-The Bible offers a wonderful description of what the term "marriage" involves in  I Corinthians 13:4-7.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

How is my marriage different?
-Brian and I were married a few months ago, so my opinions are marriage will be seen as "new" to some. However, I don't feel that way.  Brian and I share old souls.  The kind of love that we knew within the first month would turn into something long-term.  I firmly believe I knew the night I met him that he would be the man I would marry.  I'm thankful God saw him as a fit for me.

Brian and I came from hurtful past relationships.  We knew the value we found in each other in the beginning.  We also knew we had to keep the love alive.  We have done just that.

We go to movies.
We wrestle in the bed like kids.
We pinch each other.
I tickle him every chance I get.
He still calls me baby, even when it's over nothing.
He smiles at me and melts my heart.
I get up every morning just to fix his coffee.
He lets me have my way, most the time.

We make it work.
We have God in our hearts.
We know He makes it work.

So, is my marriage different?  Well, in a sense, yes.  We love each other and we love God.  Those two combined can't ever steer you wrong.

Does he care that I blog?
Surprisingly, a lot of people think Brian would not like this little space of mine.  But he loves it.  He keeps me on track with reminders that I need a new post or what he does/doesn't like.  I honestly think he learned a lot about me during our dating via this little ole blog.

Yes, I show some of our private moments.  I share our fears.  But I also share our love and what it takes to really make it in this world.

So does blogging and being a wife mix?
Yes, hands down.

I'm happy.  I'm married.  I AM a blogger.

  1. This is a beautiful post! Don't let anyone but God define your marriage :) Y'all might not have been married for long but that doesn't devalue your marriage and relationship. If you have God at the center, you will succeed!

  4. My husband also enjoys my blog and even gets involved in blogging from time to time, which I love. It's so encouraging to see joy-filled marriages in the blogging world!

  5. Love your ring btw! My husband is supportive of my blog as well. I'm not sure why people assume that husbands would not be supportive of their wives blogging. Don't get me wrong, I know one or two bloggers who say their husbands aren't but for the most part everybody else's is.

Anyways, wishing you guys many more months of wedded bliss. Stopping by from SITS.

  6. Beautiful post. I think the reason people may assume that husbands are not supportive of blogging is that many bloggers use their space to highlight the bad sides of their marriages in the hope of being 'funny'. If a husband is always set up as a scapegoat or as the dumb one in the relationship, then why would you support that? Sending some SITS Comment LOVE!

  11. It doesn't matter if you were married yesterday or 20 years ago, if you have God in the center of your marriage, then you cannot go wrong! I love this space that you carved out for yourself :-) My hubby doesn't mind at all that I blog, he actually encourages it a whole lot! Dropping by from SITS Girls comment love tribe :-)

  16. What a beautiful testimony to the love you and your husband share. You know, I think our blogs wouuld help lots of people who would love one another more.... I have a poetry blog and I have had a couple loves who never read it. Silly, but it hurt my feelings. If someone I loved had a blog, I would definitely read it!

Anyway - you two look very happy - keeping that quality time and shared love and admiration will work for a long, long time!

  18. I felt the same way about my husband. The moment I saw him I knew he was the one. We too had been in bad prior relationships, but we worked through it, dated for several years, and got married in 2007. Now, 3 daughters (and another little one in the oven) later, we're still happy. For the same reason as you: We love each other and we love the Lord. That's what makes a marriage work. Blessings, Friend!

  19. This is beautiful and congratulations! I love that you acknowledge the Good Lord. He's the foundation of our marriage of almost 19 years. When people ask what the magic in our marriage is, I just have to give credit where credit is due. You have a prosperous lifetime ahead of you. Visiting from #SITSBlogging love.

  20. Congrats on your recent marriage. I think God is essential in a marriage that is going to last a lifetime, take it from someone who is divorced and didn't have God in our marriage. I love that your hubby is cool with your blogging. My Love hates that I blog but understands me need to write

  21. Your relationship sounds very sweet. My husband and I have been married for 8 1/2 years, but we still do many of those things. We still say "I love you" a dozen times a day. We text each other throughout the day to say that we miss each other, or love each other. We act silly or tease one another. I hope that never gets old for us and I wish you and your husband a lifetime full of happiness. #sitsblogging
