Operation Smile {Review}

I was contacted by CampusBookRentals and offered compensation for this review.

Operation Smile is a charity for children's medical expenses.  This money helps heal children's smiles, and forever changing their lives.
Did you know that every 3 minutes a child is born with a cleft? One in ten of those children will die before their first birthday.  Those are scary numbers to me.  And even those who survive, struggle with being able to eat, speak, socialize, and smile.
Every child deserves to be able to do each of these things.  In many cases, parents whose children face this problem cannot afford the costs associated with corrective surgery.  This is where Operation Child comes into the situation.

Operation Smile is the largest, volunter-based, medical charity who provides free cleft surgeries.  Since they have been in operation since 1982, they have provided more than 3.5 million evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries.

Operation Smile works in over 60 countries, saving children's lives.

There are six ways that you know a procedure was Operation Smile:
1. They reach the unreachable.
2. They work from the heart.
3. They apply Global Standards of Care
4. They build self-sufficiency worldwide.
5. They lead the way.
6. They continually educate and train.

You can read more about the details of those six qualities by clicking here.

Of course, Operation Smile takes donations of any kind.  If you feel like you want to give, then please see here for more information on how to give to this worthy cause.

Another way that Operation Smile gets funds donated is through textbook rentals.  If you are in college, or know someone who is, then you should be aware that there are several perks of renting books.
-Saving 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-Free Shipping both ways.
-Freedom to highlight in the textbooks
-Flexible renting periods

Campus Book Rentals and RentBack are two sources you can use to rent books.

RentBack is a new tool that allows students to rent textbooks they own to other students.  That means 2-4 times more money than selling them back to bookstores at the end of the semester.  I'd say that's a win!

If you would like to know more about how it works, then see these videos.

Why not save some money, and a smile, today? :)

  2. What a GREAT cause! I work for a university and it would be awesome to have more students rent their books, especially if it benefits a charity like this! Thank you for the information and for sharing, Kayla! And thank you for linking up with us this week! xo
